PLMA's 2012 - World of Private Label

PLMA's 27th edition - World of Private Label International Trade Show, to be held 22-23 May 2012 at the RAI Centre here, comes at a time of historic success for retailer brands across Europe.

Private label's market share has climbed to all-time highs in more than a dozen countries while posting gains in nearly all of them, according Nielsen research compiled for PLMA's 2012 International Private Label Yearbook to be published later this year.

The 2012 World of Private Label, will be the biggest ever, with more than 3,600 exhibit stands. The exhibition will feature manufacturers from 70 countries, including 42 national and regional pavilions. The event attracts buyers from supermarkets, hypermarkets, discounters, department stores, drugstores, wholesalers, importers and exporters from over 80 countries.

Brian Sharoff, President of PLMA, says, visitors can expect to see the largest assortment of private label products of any show in the world. We estimate more than 20,000 different products for supermarkets and hypermarkets will be on display. A seminar program held 21 May, one day prior to the trade show floor opening, will focus on  the new world of retailing and shopping including smart phones, apps, social networks and online retailers. The seminar presentations will look at the emerging trends and how they impact private label.  

Also featured on the trade show floor are two popular attractions, New Product Expo and Idea Supermarket. New Product Expo displays innovative products that are new to private label. Idea Supermarket shows private label products from retailers around the world. 


Founded in 1979, PLMA's membership ranges from multinational corporations to small companies. Their products include food, beverages, snacks, health and beauty, household and kitchen, house-wares, DIY, and personal and leisure products. With offices in Amsterdam and New York PLMA represents more than 3,200 member companies around the globe. PLMA presented its first show in the United States in 1980, its first show in Europe in 1986 and its first show in Asia in 1994. Today, it provides services to member manufacturers in more than 70 countries.
